Locking a period makes it permanent. Locked periods cannot be reopened, which protects finalized records from any further changes.
Steps
- From the Accounting menu, open Fiscal Periods.
- Find the period you want to lock.
- Choose the Lock action.
If the period can be locked, it is locked permanently and you’ll see a confirmation. If not, the system explains why.
Warning: Locking is permanent. Once a period is locked it cannot be reopened, and transactions cannot be dated into it. Only lock a period when you are certain its records are final.
