Bank Accounts

Create a bank account

Add a bank account to track its balance and transactions inside the Accounting module.

Before you start

You’ll link the bank account to a GL account. Only active current asset accounts from your Chart of Accounts appear in the list, so create that account first if needed.

Steps

  1. From the Accounting menu, open Bank Accounts.
  2. Select the option to create a new bank account.
  3. Enter the Account Name.
  4. Choose the GL Account to link it to.
  5. Choose the Account Type (checking, savings, credit card, cash, or other).
  6. Optionally enter the Bank Name and the Last 4 Digits of the account number.
  7. Optionally set the Opening Balance and Opening Date.
  8. Optionally mark the account as the default.
  9. Save the account.

New accounts are created as active, and the opening balance becomes the starting current balance. You’ll see a confirmation with the account name.

Tip: If you mark the new account as default, any previous default is updated automatically.
