Edit an account

You can update an account’s details at any time, for example to rename it, correct its number, or move it under a different parent account.

Steps

  1. From the Accounting menu, open Accounts.
  2. Find the account you want to change. You can use the search and filters to narrow the list.
  3. Open the account’s Edit form.
  4. Update any of the available fields: Account Number, Account Name, Account Type, Sub-Type, Parent Account, or Description.
  5. Save your changes.

You return to the accounts list with a confirmation message.

Warning: The opening balance is set when an account is created and is not part of the edit form. Changing the account type can affect how the account behaves in reports, so change it only when necessary.
