The Finance Dashboard groups its numbers into a few clear sections. This article explains what each set of figures means so you can read the dashboard with confidence.
Revenue, expenses, and profit
The key metrics area shows both monthly and year-to-date values for:
- Revenue — income recorded for the period.
- Expenses — costs recorded for the period.
- Gross margin — the percentage of revenue left after direct costs.
- Net income — profit after expenses.
Cash flow and bank balances
The bank accounts section lists your active accounts so you can see available cash quickly. The cash flow widget breaks down the change in cash for the current month into operating, investing, and financing activities, along with beginning and ending cash.
Receivables and payables aging
Two aging widgets show how much you are owed and how much you owe:
- AR aging — the total outstanding from customers, broken into age buckets.
- AP aging — the total you owe to suppliers, broken into age buckets.
Items that need attention
- Overdue invoices — up to five invoices past their due date.
- Bills due soon — up to five bills due within 7 days.
- Expiring exemptions — tax exemptions expiring within 30 days, plus a count of already-expired ones.
Tip: Use the overdue invoices and bills-due-soon lists as a daily worklist to stay on top of collections and payments.
