Running a reconciliation compares each subledger to the general ledger as of a date you choose — usually a month-end.
Run the report
- From the Accounting menu, open Reports and choose Ledger Reconciliation.
- Pick the period-end date you want to reconcile (for example, the last day of the month).
- Choose Run Reconciliation.
Each subledger — Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Inventory — is shown on its own card.
What each card shows
- Subledger balance — what your documents add up to (open invoices, open bills, or stock on hand).
- GL control balance — what the general ledger account says.
- Variance — the difference between the two. Zero (or within a rounding penny) means they tie.
- A status badge: Balanced, Variance, or Review.
A banner at the top tells you at a glance whether everything tied out.

Tip: Inventory is valued at an average cost, so its figure is an estimate and may not tie to the exact penny. See Ledger Reconciliation overview.
