Step 6: Set up Field Service

Set up Field Service

Skip this if it doesn’t apply. Field Service needs your customers and contacts and employees marked as field technicians in place first.

Set up in this order

  • Skills and service zones — open Settings → Skills and Settings → Service Zones. These are not pre-set; add them first, then assign them to technicians under HR → Employees.
  • Customer sites — the locations you service. Add them from the customer’s record under Accounts.
  • Customer equipment and warranties — open Equipment to record the assets you maintain and their warranties.
  • Work orders — open Field Service → Work Orders. Assign a technician, schedule, and dispatch. Work orders can also be created straight from a quote or invoice.
  • Service contracts — open Service Contracts for recurring service agreements that generate invoices.
