Create an invoice from a project

Create an invoice from a project

Turn a project’s unbilled time entries and products into an invoice for the customer.

Warning: A project must have an associated account before it can be invoiced. If it does not, add the account first from Edit a project.

  1. Open the project and go to its Billing section.
  2. Review the unbilled time entries and unbilled products shown for the project.
  3. Select at least one time entry or product to include. You must choose at least one item to create an invoice.
  4. Optionally set the Issue date, Due date, and add Notes. The due date cannot be earlier than the issue date.
  5. For time entries, you can choose how to group them on the invoice (none, by user, by task, or detailed).
  6. Create the invoice. You are taken to the new draft invoice so you can review and send it.

Approving time before billing

Time entries can be approved or rejected for billing from the project’s Billing section. This helps make sure only reviewed hours are invoiced.

Tip: Products and services that have already been invoiced are marked as billed and cannot be invoiced again.
