A product can show cost in more than one place. Here is what each one means, so there is no confusion.
Default Cost
In the product’s Pricing section, Default Cost is a reference cost. It drives the profit-margin figure (Price versus cost) and acts as a fallback when no supplier-specific price applies. Set it to your standard or expected cost.
Supplier Cost
In the Suppliers & Pricing section, each supplier row has its own Supplier Cost — exactly what that supplier charges for the item. Different suppliers can have different prices for the same product.
Which cost is used on a purchase order?
When you add a product to a purchase order, the line cost fills in with the chosen supplier’s cost. If that supplier has no price set for the item, Zevonix Business Suite falls back to the product’s Default Cost. You can always override the amount on the line.
Note: The value of the stock you actually hold is tracked separately as a moving-average cost, updated from the real amounts you pay when receiving inventory — it is not the same as Default Cost.
