Update a filing’s status and notes

You can change a filing’s status and add notes from its edit screen – for example to move it from Pending to Filed and record the date it was submitted.

Open the filing for editing

  1. Go to Tax Management > Tax Filings and click View on the filing.
  2. On the detail page, click Edit in the header.

Update the details

  1. Status (required) – choose Pending, Filed, or Paid.
  2. Filed date – if you set the status to Filed, enter the date the return was filed.
  3. Notes – add any notes about the filing.
  4. Save your changes.

You are returned to the filing’s detail page with a confirmation message.

Tip: Setting the status to Filed together with a filed date records who filed the return and when, which is helpful for your audit trail.

Recording a payment

The filing detail page also includes a Record Payment action, which captures the payment date, amount, method, and a reference number. When the amount paid reaches the tax due, the filing moves to a Paid status.
